Sunday today. Bemidji I write from.
It is starting to snow. It is not cold out. The snow flakes are wide sometimes.
I am not doing much now. Later I will watch television to watch those playing (pigskin)
football is called.
I think I may be home alone. I haven’t seen my grandson who stays with me here.
What are you (all) doing this Sunday? Are you resting, maybe visiting each other.
Long ago anishinaabeg worked all the time. They helped each other to support
themselves all the time. Everyone worked. And they taught their children how to take
care of themselves . Some snared. Others fished through ice. Others went after
wood so that they don’t get cold. They were all around anishinaabeg as they were
called. It wasn’t until darkness they rested.
Then they told their children (preached) what they should do as they grow older
themselves. They also told stories before going to sleep, This is what my parents
taught us before lying down (for night):Try to dream of where your life is going
tomorrow. That is where you will get life from that will carry you forward they taught -
preached to us..
(Maybe more aa’s in some, my typos. Sorry!!!)
